Course Outline

Designed for those team members who wish to learn the use of Scottish Mountain Rescue mapping software known as Mountain Map – and how it integrates with search management techniques. The course will provide:

  • Practical hands on use of the mapping software
  • Training on how the software works
  • Practical skills workshops & search based scenarios
  • Awareness of the process in place to support the effective management of the search
  • Course runs in parallel with the search management level 1 course
  • Certificate of attendance

Pre-Course Requirements

In order to ensure the smooth running of the course all candidates are asked to ensure they observe the following conditions:

  • Have an interest in the subject of digital mapping
  • For insurance purposes participants are requested to sign on with their team prior to course attendance. This is an absolute must procedure.
  • Have basic computer literacy
  • Must bring to the course their team lap top with mountain map software
  • For your comfort and safety please ensure you have appropriate outdoor equipment for this course. i.e. waterproofs & boots for short outdoor session.
